This is a long but thin area dotted with trees and shrubbery. You have a good chance of finding a rabbit or some small rodent in here to eat. However, it is not that thick, and you have a good chance of being found. There is no water here, or protection from the heat or the cold. This is not a great place to stay for a long period of time, but it is a good place to escape for a few hours.

This is a great place to hide, if you are good at it in no one would find you for days. There are several great trees to climb, and many places to conceal yourself. There are also plenty of animals to hunt. This area gets to near freezing temperatures at night and lighting a fire in here would be like flashing a neon sign that announced your location. Also finding water is near impossible

Here you have a clean source of cool water, which is one of the most valuable elements in the arena. Be careful, because you are also exposing yourself. There are no trees, and no way to hide from the other tribunes. Coming here poses a great risk. Many would not risk it unless they have something to put water in to store for later, or if they are inches from death. Most likely it is a trap.

The desert provides constant warmth, something that no other area can provide. You can safely light a fire here, and chances are that no one would suspect anything. There is a large fire burning on the far southern end, and smoke is constantly circling around anyway. There is absolutely no water here, and any animals you find to eat will be small. There are no trees, and no real way to conceal yourself, but chances are that the others will not follow you into this hellish place.

1 is one of the thirteen districts of Panem. Its industry is making luxury items for the Capitol. Due to the nature of its industry, it's considered the wealthiest district, the only other wealthier area being the Capitol itself. It is considered a career district. Little else is known about this district.

2's seal depicts a block of stone and carving tools. The district's public presentation is that of stone quarries, but it also manufactures weaponry, trains, and supplies Peacekeepers. The main military in the district is known as the Nut. This district is sometimes called "the pets" of the Capitol. They are the biggest supporters of the Capitol therefore babied and given many extra conveniences.

3's primary industry is general electronics of many types, though it is known for also making various mechanical products such as automobiles and firearms. Thus, many of its residents are technically apt. It is not considered a career district even though district 4 is.

4's industry is fishing, thus most residents have experience using nets and tridents, making fishhooks from scratch, swimming, and identifying edible sea life. It is considered a Career district.

District 5’s responsibility is power. They produce and control the electricity, while most of it goes to the capitol a fraction of it is allowed to go to the other districts. Since the majority of people deal with technology they are usually intelligent like the district 3 citizens.

District 6 deals with transportation. They develop trains, hovercrafts, cars, and any other form of travel. They are responsible for all other products getting to the capitol. Victors from this district have been known to be morphling addicts.

7's industry is lumber and many of its residents to have experience with hatchets, axes, saws, and other tree cutting tools. This district's children begin work at an early age.

8's principal industry is the production of textiles, and they have at least one factory that is primarily used for making Peacekeeper uniforms.

District 9 produces grain. District 11 does as well but this district focuses solely on grain. It is a very vast district.

District 10 specializes in livestock. They raise them, kill them, and prepare the meat to be sent to The Capitol. It is the largest district.

11's industry is agriculture--orchards and fields of grain and cotton surround the district. Almost everything grown is shipped directly to the Capitol. It is one of the poorest districts in Panem, second only to District 12. It is also one of the districts where the Peacekeepers are the strictest. Ironically, this directly results in its residents generally being malnourished and underfed despite its focus on agriculture.

12 is located somewhere in the Appalachian mountains. Its chief industry is coal mining. The district has the distinction of being one of the poorest districts, if not the outright poorest, in all of Panem. District 12 is the laughing stock of Panem.
