Personality: Vanessa is a proud girl. Along with that, she is passionate and intelligent. When she develops a passion for something, the fire inside of her will never burn out. Vanessa also felt that she had to keep up a strong emotional front for the sake of Olivia, so it is more difficult for her to express her emotions, especially when she feels vulnerable or it is something she feels would damage her pride, seeing as her pride is such a strong part of who she is. She is not fast to trust, but when someone gains her trust, they gain her complete loyalty. (Though someone may not have her trust completely, that does not mean she won’t be friendly towards them, and they can’t be friendly acquaintances.)

Emmanuel West - Father

History: Vanessa was born in District 11 to a poor family. Her mother passed away shortly after giving birth to Olivia, Vanessa’s younger sister, when Vanessa was five years old. This left Vanessa’s father to raise two young girls by himself. Despite the difficulty he faced, he managed to do it, and the three of them relied on their close bond to get them through tough times. She was very active, often prancing around, much to the dismay of the neighbors. It was a sense of her coping with her situation. She tried to keep busy. Despite her circumstances, she was very much an average girl. She enjoyed having fun, and laughing, and spending time with her family. She didn't take those things for granted, as the finer things in life tended to be rare.

Vanessa, despite having a terrible upbringing in the education department, was always very intelligent. Her father tried to teach her all he could while she wasn't at school, but he hadn't received any better an education, so he was unable to be of much assitance.

Hidden in the corner of their very modest home always sat a box that contained a bow and arrow. It was their only prized possesion, and had been passed down from her father's father, who had made it by hand. The only reason Vanessa is able to hold her own with a bow and arrow in her hand is because her father would help her shoot at a small makeshift target from across their hut. (As it could pretty much be called one.)
Views on the game: It is one hundred percent barbaric, and the fact that it exists is a testimony to the people who run the games. The “game” is an excuse for a group of sadists to feed their addiction to causing others pain and hurt.
