Playby: Logan Lerman

Personality:
Gladius is a pacifist. He hates fighting of any kind, which is why his situation is very unfortunate. Gladius, you see, is a career. He’s been trained to fight since the age of four, when he received his first knife. He’s not like other tributes, he actually is very compassionate. Gladius cares about others way more than he cares about himself. He knows his parents think he’s weak, but he would definitely lay down his own life for someone else. He hates the thought of killing someone else. It makes him sick.
He also has a lot of self-loathing. Gladius feels like the screw-up of his family because everyone expects him to be strong and a killing machine. He's not. Gladius wants to live up to their expectations, but he doesn't want to kill or hurt anyone. So, he simply trains a lot. He doesn't plan on actually using it, but it makes his parents hate him less.
Gladius is also bullied a bit in his district. The other boys at school think he's a baby because he's always off by himself and he doesn't have the "Career Factor" or anything. He's too soft in their eyes. So, Gladius is shy and nervous about showing the true Gladius to anyone. He's not a total girl or anything, but he just doesn't talk to many people. Girls kind of find him 'mysterious' and such. Gladius finds this odd.
Strengths:
- Excellent at defense. Gladius has gotten very good at defending himself physically. He's great at swordsmanship and knives of any kind really. He can protect himself, and sometimes another if he's only against one person. He's good with hand to hand combat as well.
- Compassionate. Gladius is very compassionate towards others. He hates the thought of someone being hurt or dead, so he always tries to make little kids laugh during the Games. He doesn't do this around adults, but he can't help by try and cheer the kids up when they're worried they'll be picked. He knows that's frowned upon by his parents, but he can't help it.
- Trustworthy. If Gladius joins your alliance, you can bet he'll save your butt a few times. He's very loyal and trustworthy to others, even if he shouldn't be during the Games. He'll fight with you and help you when it comes to food, unless it's down to just the two of you. Then, he will try to poison you probably, so watch out.
Weaknesses:
- Pacifist. Gladius really, really doesn't want to kill people. Really. He's not a fighter, so he doesn't want to kill anyone. Gladius' goal is to make it through the games with killing as few people as possible. It kind of makes him a whimp, but he doesn't care. Killing is wrong.
- Self-loathing. Gladius hates that he's not 'strong' like his parents and siblings. He hates that he's the baby of the family and can't man up and get over his fear of killing. But no matter how much he hates it, Gladius can't bring himself to change his morals. He can't get over the fact that killing is wrong and taking someone elses life is a terrible, terrible thing.

Important People:
- Ares Hawkins. Gladius has a terrible relationship with his father. Ares wants his son to be brave and tough like him and he sees Gladius as a weakling. He doesn't think his son will win no matter what. Gladius wants to make his father proud, but he doesn't want to compromise on his own morals either.
- Augusta Hawkins. Gladius' mother is cold and cruel. She never showed Gladius affection when he was a child and he hates her for that, not that he'd tell her that though. Augusta knows her son won't kill anyone, so she sort of wishes she'd never had him.
- Romana Hawkins. Gladius' older sister. Augusta never showed her affection either, because Augusta and Ares thought that girls were too weak to kill a lot in the arena (even though many girls were victors). Romana's silent and calculating, she never shows her emotions. Gladius isn't sure if she loves him or hates him like the rest of their family.
- Romulus Hawkins. Exactly like Ares before he died. Gladius' older brother thought Ares was a weak, spineless fool. He died in the 73rd Hunger Games, but is still considered braver than Gladius. He was killed by another career, a boy from one.
History:
Gladius Hawkins was born seventeen years ago to Augusta and Ares Hawkins. They were glad to have another son, but weren't over-joyed by his exisitance. They saw him as a way to get rich in the event that Romulus didn't win his Hunger Games. He was nothing more than a pawn to them.
When he was four, he was given his first knife and began training. He trained with his brother, Romulus, for four hours most days. Gladius and Romolus would have done more, but he had to go to school. Still, they were both gifted at swordsmanship and knives. The only real difference between them was that Romolus loved training and the rush of cutting a training dummy in half. Gladius didn't mind messing around with his sword, but he wasn't a fan of 'killing', even at a young age.
When he was fifteen, he told his parents he didn't want to volunteer for the Hunger Games. Gladius told his parents that he didn't want to kill anyone or cause anymore death. His mother laughed in his face and his father refused to talk to him for a long time. Romana didn't say anything about it and Romulus told him that he was too weak for the Hunger Games anyway. The next month, Romulus volunteered for another boy and entered the 73rd Hunger Games. He died a week into the Games by a boy from District 1.
No one in the Hawkins family cried. Augusta said that he was the least disappointing of her children, Ares agreed. He said he died like a true man. Romana was careless, she continued to be her silent self. Gladius threw up when he found out. He hadn't gotten along with his brother, but he was still his older brother! He hadn't deserved to die. Romulus might have been a jerk, but he was still a child. He was only eighteen. That was way to young to die, which made Gladius even more terrified of the Hunger Games.
This year, his mother told him he had to volunteer, if he wasn't chosen. He had too. Gladius had to 'avenge his brother' or the rest of the Hawkins would turn their backs on him, if he lived. Gladius is terrified and wishes there was some other way.
Views on the game:
